Words of Wisdom

  • "Man is a universe within himself. " -Bob Marley
  • "And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. " - Friedrich Nietzsche
  • "People intoxicate themselves with work so they won't see how they really are. " - Aldous Huxley
  • "In order to change the world, you have to get your head together first. " -Jimi Hendrix
  • "A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality." -John Lennon
  • "Life is without meaning. You bring the meaning to it. The meaning of life is whatever you ascribe it to be. Being alive is the meaning." -Joseph Campbell

What have they done to the Earth?

Tuesday, Greenpeace's activists took action using actual oil from the spill to paint “Arctic Next?” on the bridge of a drill supply ship contracted by Shell and due to head to Alaska for their Arctic drilling. Seven activists were arrested and are now being charged with felonies, for standing up to protect our oceans. Meanwhile, BP has yet to be criminally charged with anything!

What have they done to the Earth?
What have they done to our fair Sister?
Ravaged and plundered, and ripped her and bit her
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and...
Dragged her down.......
(When The Music's Over - The Doors)

Are you really going to take this? ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO LET THE EARTH DIE? When the Earth dies, we die! GO on Greenpeace's Site to find out how YOU can help. "Think Globally, Act Locally!" - Paul Mcartney.

What has the Earth done to us?
What has our fair Sister done to hurt us?
Given water and sun, and air and plants
Given us some storms, because we anger her
She's done us no wrong....
Held us high.......

Sweet Desires

Desire has no soul, no sympathy, no regrets about its actions. Be ready for stoic issues in life.

All living things have desires. It's in life's nature to have desires. Desires aren't living things. Desires have no emotions. They have no idea what they can do to us, what we are willing to do to achieve our desires. It is very easy to become attached to desires. The suffering of life is caused by attaching yourself to your desires. There is a difference between determination and attachment. Man must be willing to change at any time. No desire is worthy enough of being stuck in time and life.

Be ready for the things to come. PEACE!

Fool on the hill

"He never listens to them...he knows that they're the fool...they don't like him...the fool on the hill..."

Basically, there is Us and Them. There are two different kinds of people, those who want to change and help the universe, and those who don't. Sure, we may look crazy trying to help out Mother Earth, and other things, but we know that they are the crazy ones to not care. I can't wait to see their crazy faces when they realize our duty. Will they change?

You may not want to change, but change wants you.

Waiting for the summer rain

Not sure about everyone else, but I am certainly in summer mode. Summertime is my favorite time of the year. It's the time when I can do what I please. I wake up when the sun calls me, I sleep when the moon lets me go. I can think freely and take action. Summertime brings all sorts of opportunities, make sure to take advantage of them.

What words cannot express

No matter how loud you speak or how much you have to say, sometimes you cannot get across the true meaning with words. That's why we have Music and Art. There's just something so magical about Music and Art that can grab the mind of man and take it away and turn it upside down. My grandpa showed me this stunning video.
Another sad war story...isn't war getting old? Is that really all people want to do is fight fight fight?

Yesterday...

"Yesterday...all my troubles seemed so far away...now it looks as though they're here to stay..."
-The Beatles

Oh how I believe in yesterday...The sun was so young to me. Everything was so simple, not a care in the world. I knew of no problems. The world was mine. No fighting, no love, no hate. Childhood dreams are a utopia. The world was what we made it. Our minds were strong. Our minds were uneducated, and it's true that ignorance is bliss. But people inevitably grow up and become educated. Very few keep these childhood dreams. I have not given up mine. The innocence of the world to me, how I wished that it would be like that forever. Years later, I've heard so many horrible things about this world. Instead of being like others' and accepting the world and simply surviving, I want to do something. I have not forgotten the feeling of innocence and dream. But like us all, I have forgotten true happiness. Everyone in this world will know true happiness when they make peace, and live the dream they dreamt.
The world is yours, dream on.

Symbiosis

We are all here together. We are all part of the universe, part of Earth, part of a community. It is our responsibility to look out for each other, to provide for each other, to respect and listen to one another. We are not here to rob, kill, rape and hate each other. Life evolves. Whether you believe in the Theory of Evolution or not, you have to realize that life changes, and you have to be ready for it. We have to work together and be as one in order to successfully live. We have so many wonderful ideas to explore, and so many complex characteristics of life, why should we waste time killing each other? Benefit others, and benefit from others. We have perfect examples here on Earth. Organisms of all sorts - work together, they have their own role in life, and they are successful. Are they always peaceful? No. They have to eat. Life has determined a chain of who's who and who's eating who on this planet. But they are only fighting for survival. Humans are fighting for NOTHING. Humans fight to feel better than each other, over money, land, possessions...nothing worthwhile at all.
Come together, share ideas, be as one, be as all.

This is our example: Work together and you will be successful!

Thanks to my bio teacher Ms. Rubin who showed our class this video!

COME TOGETHER, RIGHT NOW.

Life gets in the way of living

I pray for boredom. Once a being finds meaning and responsibility in life, one will never go a moment without contributing to inner and collective success.

Seriously, I can't remember the last time I was able to just sit down and do NOTHING. Either I always have HW, am in school, doing a project, reading for school, studying for an exam, working, cleaning, anything that keeps me busy.
It's like a twist on Aldous Huxley's  quote "People intoxicate themselves with work so they won't see how they really are. "
Life gets in the way of living. All those responsibilities, are all part of life. Life intoxicates us with work so we can't discover who we really are. Those who make time to discover themselves are the successful ones who win the game of life. Once I made time to discover myself, I realized I have a responsibility as a citizen of the universe. We all do. Ever since then, a moment when I'm not intoxicated by what life throws in my way, I am learning about myself, the universe, or what I am interested in. Life gives you education, but living gives you wisdom. Balance the two out and you've got yourself a perfect being.

Now go make time for yourself, because without yourself, you've got nothing.

Peace :)

Experience the unknown

"Before I sink into the big sleep, I want to hear...the scream of the butterfly"
-Jim Morrison, (The Doors - When The Music's Over)

This is one of the most interesting statements I've ever heard. I don't think anyone can understand what Jim Morrison really meant - because he's Jim Morrison. He is the definition of the unknown. His mind was wild and lives on today through his music. The way I interpret that - "Before you die, experience the unknown". Has anyone ever heard a butterfly scream? I don't think so. It has a symbolic meaning, several. Everyone can put their own definitions to use, because you define your own universe. Experience it all. Hear the scream of the butterfly, go out into the forest, and find the troubled butterfly who is screaming for you. Close your eyes, listen deep, and you will find it.

Goals in life.

"Philosophy is a game with objectives and no rules. Mathematics is a game with
rules and no objectives."
      -- Anonymous
Everyone should have a goal set for their life. Whether it be a career, family, or state of mind, everyone should have direction in their life. Society works together, everyone needs to work together with meaning in order to be successful. Do you have an objective? Why are YOU here? I am here to make a difference. My game has no rules, expand the reign of knowledge to no limit.
I hope everyone is going to the AIDS walk tomorrow! Check out a previous post for more info!
Peace!

I think; therefore I am

"I think; therefore I am" -Rene Descartes

I was just assigned to study Rene Descartes in history class, and I find it very fascinating. He was a french philosopher during the Renaissance. This quote is his most famous. His theory "I think; therefore I am" is mind-blowing. What does your presence on Earth mean? If you are thinking, you are existing. Exist with a purpose.

There is always light beyond the trees

I took this on May 13, 2010 in the afternoon on the Upper East Side of New York City. After long a day of school, I was reassured that I could make it through it the day with the "light beyond the trees"

And when my mind is wandering, there I will go...

"The most merciful thing in the world... is the inability of the human mind to
correlate all its contents."
-- H.P. Lovecraft, "The Call of Cthulhu"
There is no "system" to life. Life is a free-transforming entity in which we all live, think, and die. If something is free-transforming, it means so are you. Never live any day the same the last. Be yourself, be someone different. Individuality is key to life, and don't let any "system" try and rob you of that. The human mind loves to run wild, wander and wonder. It will never stop, the basis of life is imagination and thought. No matter how hard an individual or "system" tries to contain free thoughts, they will never succeed.

No power is greater than your own.

Knowledge Is Power

"Try to learn something about everything and everything about something."
      -- T.H. Huxley
It's true. Knowledge is power. Nothing you learn is meaningless. Curiosity is the fuel of life. Why are we here? To learn everything. People make new discoveries everyday, whether its for themselves or for humanity. Go somewhere you normally wouldn't go. Break the barrier. Make the effort to discover something new every day. Whether you like it or not, your going to absorb the wisdom of life. Every moment of your life - becomes you. Experience and wisdom define YOU. What defines experience?

If 6 was 9 - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Music is a great way of expressing experience and wisdom!
